LEEC announces its main research areas for 2026

The Laboratory of Electrical Engineering and Computing (LEEC) has published its main research areas for 2026, organized around four complementary pillars: 1. Electrical Energy: low power production and control, including microbial fuel cells and micro-hydro harvesting from water distribution networks. 2. Hybrid Electrical Energy production and control, with contributions to battery management systems for solar photovoltaic energy generation. 3. Electromagnetic characterization and non-destructive evaluation for material integrity, using eddy current testing, magnetic needle probe, magnetic incremental permeability and Barkhausen noise methods. 4. SMART Agriculture, Telecommunications and Security, with sensor nodes for soil classification and pesticide level monitoring. The laboratory reports more than 70 papers in international journals, 11 PhD theses defended between 2021 and 2026, and more than 90 Master of Engineering dissertations.
